Urban ecology

Urban ecology is the scientific study of the relation of living organisms with each other and their surroundings in the context of an urban environment. It combines knowledge of:

• urban planning;
• biology of organisms inhabiting urban areas;
• human social problems in cities;
• ecosystem services;
• pro-ecological protection against harmful organisms in open and closed spaces.

Graduates will have a holistic view of the city as an ecological system in which socio-economic decisions must be in harmony with all elements of nature.
