Students in Lublin willingly join voluntary and non-governmental organizations, which are abundant in Lublin.
Young people can participate in numerous cultural and social events, meetings, concerts that are directed to all residents. A significant part of them is organized or co-organized by non-governmental organizations actively operating in Lublin.
What are non-governmental organizations? So called NGOs are all entities that are not public administration bodies and the activities of which are not aimed at achieving profit. They perform very important social, political and economic functions, e.g. focusing for the common good, development of interests, advocacy, employment.
About 7.5 thousand foundations and associations are registered in Lublin.
Get involved through the student organizations, media and university services. Develop your skills, discover hidden talents, join organizations, volunteer in the community, get fit or simply have fun and relax – there are plenty of opportunities for you both on campus and in the city.
The Rule of Law Institute Foundation
Centre for Support of Migrants and Refugees, Caritas Lublin (Centrum Pomocy Migrantom i Uchodźcom) – This is a part of the Catholic charity “Caritas”. It offers support for asylum seekers and refugees in Poland, helps people in intercultural situations, offers psychological support, legal support and support with finding work and helps with the integration of foreigners.

„DLA ZIEMI” Association
‘Dla Ziemi’ – This organization has different projects, related to local communities – like for example helping improving the educational situation of village children – as well as projects related to foreigners, named “STRANGERS? Growing closer together” and “We want to live in Poland”, a project specifically related to female migrants and refugees is called “The voice of women”, it aims to increase the social participation of this group.
Homo Faber Association
Homo Faber Association – This is a NGO mainly focusing on the issue of human rights protection and the relation between government and people. It tries to build up a civic society and also is focused on both historical ¤t multiculturalism and fighting with discrimination in different areas. They organize “welcome actions” for foreigners, publish a guide about living in Lublin which is also available in English, introduce the city to foreigners and teach foreigners Polish language and culture.
Volunteer Centre
Volunteer Centre (Regionalne Centrum Wolontariatu w Lublinie)- This organization was established in 1999. Since the moment of establishment it has 20.000 people in Lublin working as volunteers. It searches volunteers willing to help and tries to promote this kind of work. It tries to set up organizations and centers of volunteers/volunteering.
OMNES GENTES
Group that was initiated during the campaign process and still works for the Volunteers Centre. Half of the group’s members are people from all over the world. Omnes Gentes gathers locals and foreigners living in Lublin who want to organize activities such as: Animation of children, fun shows about other cultures and training support of foreigners in various techniques of working with children on a voluntary basis.
SEMPRE A FRENTE
Sempre a Frente – The aim of this NGO is to help people to develop themselves. It wants to help people both young and old to get important social skills, which can help them on the labor market. It wants to promote social responsibility, initiative and enterprise. Also it promotes doing volunteer work and different kinds of education, because it sees this as a way for young people to gain skills. The NGO is divided into three parts; Personal Development Lab, Centre for Youth Information and Development and the Youth Actions Space. It has also projects related to Ukraine and Georgia.
TEATRIKON
TEATRIKON – A local NGO working with youth and students. There are 30 young people and they work in local communities, across Poland and internationally. The main projects cover 6 regions of Poland, strategic cooperation with over 20 high schools in Lublin, 4 universities and the Municipality of Lublin. Every year in the projects of the Foundation over 5000 of young people take part. There are 3 key areas of work: Creativity, Education and Activation.
